ABOUT PROMTONG MANSION
 
Promtong mansion is a bed & breakfast runs by a local Thai family, with Swiss management. Located in a nice & quiet area in the middle of Ayutthaya Island, 10 meters off Pathon Road, behind Sherwood House. Only 5 minutes walk to Wat Maha That - home of famous "the Buddha's head in a tree". Easily reach all the historical sites within the old city. Police Station, Dechawut Post Office, pharmacy, hospital, 2 local night markets, 7/11 shops & ATMs are nearby. A swimming pool & restaurant (Sherwood House) is next door. Use of the pool is 50 B/adult, 35 B/kid.

Ayutthaya is 76 km north of Bangkok, which only 30 min. from Don Mueang (DMK) Airport, 1hr & 10min. from Suwannabhumi (BKK) International Airport. Over magnificent temples & ruins are scattering in and around Ayutthaya. Historical Park located in the heart of Ayutthaya Island, has been included in UNESCO's list of "WORLD HERITAGE" since 13 December 1991. You will enjoyed seeing those beautiful temples on foot, bike, motorbike, tuk tuk, boat or elephant!
Getting to us from Kanchanaburi: The quickest way is by a taxi, cost between 1500-2000B/taxi. If you want to make your own way on public transport, please... 1.Check availability of an a/c mini-van with your host in Kanchanaburi. It runs daily (only at 13:00) to Ayutthaya, take around 2hr30min. (390B/person).
2.Take an a/c mini-van to to Supanburi (1hr30min., 80B/seat, run during 05:00-18:00). Then take another a/c mini-van (1hr30min., 80B/seat, run during 05:00-18:00) to Ayutthaya. Then, a tuk tuk to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk).
3.Take an a/c mini-van to Bangkok (Victory Monument) and take another a/c mini-van to Ayutthaya. Then, a tuk tuk to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk).
4.Take a train to Thon Buri Train Station. And take a taxi to Bangkok Train Station, then take a train to Ayutthaya. At Ayutthaya Train Station, you either take a tuk tuk to the Mansion (60B/tuk tuk) or you walk to a ferry pier (opposite the train station) & take a ferry (run between 05:30-18:00) to Ayutthaya Island. When you reach the Island, you are now on U-tong Road, then turn left & walk on this road for 5min. until you reach a vocational school (on your right) and turn right to Pathon Road. You walk (another 5min.) pass an internet shop & some buildings, then cross a junction, and walk another 5min. pass a 7/11 shop, Police station, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House. We are located on a small street next to Sherwood House.
5.Take an a/c bus to Bangkok (Southern Bus Terminal), during 05:30-15:00. Then take an a/c mini-van to Ayutthaya (1hr30min., 70B/person). Then you either take a tuk tuk to the Mansion, (50 B/tuk tuk) or when the bus is crossing the large bidge to Ayutthaya Island, you tell the driver to drop you at the police station (on Pathon Road), then walk (5min.only) pass 7/11 shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.

HOW TO GET TO PROMTONG MANSION?
Getting to us from Suwannabhumi Airport :
The quickest way (1hr20min.) is to take a taxi-meter (between 1200B-1500B/taxi, tollway fee excluded), please look for the sign "taxi-meter". Always ask for the price before taking the trip. A warning note : "Please be careful when you pay the driver. Make sure that you give him the correct money". A couple from USA said the driver tried to trick them, told them that they gave him wrong notes. 3 hundred-THB notes instead of 1 thousand-THB note and 2 hundred-THB notes. Luckily, the gentleman's known the trick because he saw the driver keeps 1 thousand-THB note in his hand and shows 3 hundred-THB notes instead. So, they reported this to the tourist police.
Or get white mini-van (the Express Shuttle Bus) from the airport to the airport bus terminal. From there you take either
1.Mini-van no.551 (goes every 15min.) to Victory Monument in Bangkok (50B, 50min.) and then take another mini-van (in front of Fashion Mall) to Ayutthaya (goes every 30min.) during 06:00-19:00, no need to book in advance. (60B + luggage,1hr). You then either take a tuk tuk (5min.only, 50B/tuk tuk) from the last stop to the Mansion or when the mini-van is on the large bridge crossing the Pasak River to Ayutthaya Island, you tell the driver to drop you at the police station (on Pathon Road), then you walk (5min.only) pass a 7/11 shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
2.Mini-van no.554 (goes every 15min.) to Don Muang Airport (50B, 45min.) and then walk to Don Muang Train Station. Take a train to Ayutthya during 07:00-22:30 (fare is 15-20B, 1hr30min.). At Ayutthaya Train Station you either take a tuk tuk (50B/tuk tuk) from the train station to the Mansion or you walk to a ferry pier (opposite the train station) & take a ferry (run daily between 05:30-18:00) cross the Pasak River to Ayutthaya Island. When you reach the Island, you are now on U-tong Road, turn left & walk on this road for 5min. until you reach a vocational school (on your right) and turn right to Pathon Road. You walk on this road for another 5min. (pass an internet shop & some buildings), then cross a junction, walk for another 5min. (pass a 7/11 shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House).
Or take a sky train (an airport link) to Prayathai station, then take another sky train to Victory Monument. Then take a/c mini-van (in front of the Fashion Mall) to Ayutthaya (goes every 30min.) during 06:00-19:00, no need to book in advance. (60B + luggage, 1hr 15min.). You then either take a tuk tuk (5min.only, 50B/tuk tuk) from the last stop to the Mansion or when the mini-van is on the large bridge crossing the Pasak River to Ayutthaya Island, you tell the driver to drop you at the police station (on Pathon Road), then you walk (5min.only) pass a 7/11 shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
Or take a sky train (an airport link) to Prayathai station, then take another sky train to Silom Station, then, an underground to Hualampong train station. Then, take a train from Hualampong train station, during 06:30-22:00, to Ayutthaya (2hrs), fare is 20B/person. At Ayutthaya Train Station, you either take a tuk tuk (10min.only) to the Mansion (50B/tuk tuk) or you walk to a ferry pier(opposite the train station)& take a ferry (run between 05:30-18:00) to Ayutthaya Island. When you reach the Island, you are now on U-tong Road, then turn left & walk on this road for 5min. until you reach a vocational school (on your right) and turn right to Pathon Road. You walk (another 5min.) pass an internet shop & some buildings, then cross a junction, and walk(another 5min.) pass a 7/11 shop, Police station, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
Getting to us from Bangkok :
The quickest way to get here is by car/taxi, around 1hr, depend on where you are located in Bangkok. If you want to make your own way on public transport, please go to:
1.Victory Monument (in fron of the Fashion Mall) take a/c mini-van to Ayutthaya during 06:00-19:00, no need to book in advance and goes every 30min. (60B/person+luggage,1hr 15min.). You then either take a tuk tuk (5min.only) from the last stop to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk) or when the mini-van is on the large bridge crossing the Pasak River to Ayutthaya Island, you tell the driver to drop you at the police station (on Pathon Road), then walk (5min.only) pass 7/11 shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
2.Hualampong (Bangkok) Train Station take trains during 06:40-22:00 to Ayutthaya (2hrs+, 20B/person). At Ayutthaya Train Station, you either take a tuk tuk to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk) or walk to a ferry pier (opposite the train station) & take a ferry (4-5B/person, run between 05:30-18:00) to Ayutthaya Island. When you reach the Island, you are now on U-tong Road, then turn left & walk on this road for 5min. until you reach a vocational school (on your right) and turn right to Pathon Road. You walk another 5min. pass an internet shop & some buildings, then cross a junction, and walk another 5min. pass a 7/11 shop, Police station, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
3.North & Northern Bus Terminal (Mor-Chit) take a/c bus (48B/person, 2hrs) or a/c mini-van (at row no. 97, cost 60B/person, 1hr) during 05:30-19:00, to Ayutthaya. Then you either take a tuk tuk to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk) or when the bus is crossing the large bridge to Ayutthaya Island, you tell the driver to drop you at the police station (on Pathon Road), then walk (5min.only) pass 7/11shop, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
4.Sounthern Bus Terminal take a/c mini-van in front of "Susco" Petrol Station which located opposite the Sounthern Bus Terminal, during 05:30-18:00, to Ayutthaya (2hrs, 70B/seat). Then, take a tuk tuk to Promtong Mansion (50B/tuk tuk).
Getting to us from the North of Thailand:
The quickest way to get here is by a plane from Chieng Mai to Don Muang Airport (DMK). Then take a taxi to Ayutthaya, costs around 800B/taxi (tollway fee included). Or walk to Don Muang Train Station (2km) and take a train to Ayutthaya. If you do not want to fly, please take:
1.Train from Chieng Mai or Pitsanulok Train Station (day or night train) to Ayutthaya (buy tickets in advance : www.thairailticket.com. At Ayutthaya Train Station, you either take a tuk tuk to the Mansion (50THB/tuk tuk) or you walk to a ferry pier (opposite the train station) & take a ferry (4-5B/person, between 05:30-18:00) to Ayutthaya Island. When you reach the Island, you are now on U-tong Road, then turn left & walk on this road for 5min. until you reach a vocational school (on your right) and turn right to Pathon Road. You walk another 5min. pass an internet shop & some buildings, then cross a junction, and walk another 5min. pass a 7/11 shop, Police station, Dechawut Post Office & Sherwood House.
2.Bus from Chieng Mai or Sukhothai to Ayutthaya. Please tell your bus driver in advance that you want to stop at Ayutthaya Bus Stop. (You will end up in Bangkok, if he does not know this!) The Ayutthaya Bus Stop is located next to the high way which is 7km away from Ayutthaya City. Please take a tuk tuk or a taxi (200B/tuk tuk or taxi) to us. This trip takes at least 20min. due to drive passing many traffic lights.
Notes: it is always so warm during 10:30-16:30, so, take a tuk tuk or ride a bike/motor-bike is better idea than walk under the hot sun. However, for you, who love to walk, always put SPF30 sunscreen, a hat & sunglasses on. :)
